Krejci could return for Bruins vs Avs

Season series: The Boston Bruins and Colorado Avalanche split their two games last season, with each team winning 2-0 in the other's building. Colorado has won four in a row at TD Garden and is 7-0 with a tie since Boston's 4-1 victory on March 30, 1998. The Bruins and Avalanche will meet for the second and final team at Pepsi Center on Jan. 21, 2015.

Avalanche team scope: Because the Avalanche are in the Western Conference visits to Boston are rare for most players on Colorado. For Jarome Iginla, however, the walk through TD Garden on Monday afternoon won't feel too foreign. It will be Iginla's first trip back to Boston after playing for the Bruins in 2013-14, a season in which he tied for the team lead with 30 goals. "It's early in the year, and it will probably feel like I was just there," Iginla told the Avalanche's website. "For myself and my family, it was a fun last year. It was a great experience." Colorado could use some of the offensive spark Iginla had in Boston. The Avalanche, who are playing the opener of a four-game road trip, are not just looking for their first win, but their first goal; they were shut out by the Minnesota Wild in both ends of a season-opening home and home series.

Bruins team scope: Last season's Presidents' Trophy winners are not off to the start most would have expected. Boston lost 4-0 at home to the Washington Capitals on Saturday night and is 1-2-0 after losses to the Detroit Red Wings and Capitals. Boston has scored three goals in the three games, but help may be on the way. Center David Krejci, who missed the first three games with an undisclosed injury, will be eligible to come off injured reserve and may be able to play. “I think it’s looking good,” coach Claude Julien said Sunday. Krejci is also hopeful he'll be able to dress. “Every day [is] better,” he said Sunday, when he spoke to the media for the first time since being injured on Oct. 4. “Today was a pretty good day, so hopefully [I’ll] wake up [Monday] and feel good enough to play. But we got to wait till [Monday].” Krejci skated on a line with Milan Lucic and Seth Griffin, who was called up from Providence of the American Hockey League on Sunday.
