Kings Stay Hot, Beat Avs In Shootout

Rookie Jordan Weal scored the deciding goal in the sixth round of the shootout to give the Los Angeles Kings a victory against the Colorado Avalanche at Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Tyler Toffoli gave the Kings a 1-0 lead 3:37 into the game when he tapped in a pass from Jeff Carter to complete a 2-on-1.
Colorado got even at 19:46 when Maxime Talbot beat Jonathan Quick with a high shot from the slot for a power-play goal. It was the eighth non-shootout goal for Colorado in seven games.
Reto Berra made 42 saves for Colorado but was beaten twice in the shootout when a save would have given the Avalanche a victory. Nathan MacKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog scored shootout goals for Colorado.
Quick stopped 20 of 21 shots in two periods of play and Martin Jones made 13 saves in the third period and OT.
Los Angeles won 2-1 SO.
The teams meet again Saturday in Las Vegas in the clubs' annual Frozen Fury matchup.
