Berra won, Holos lost again

Two Avalanche players were in action today. Swiss goalie Reto Berra was looking for his first win, while Norway’s Jonas Holos suited up against against Slovakia.
Switzerland was sitting at the bottom of group B before their meeting with Germany today and a knockout-stage berth was starting to slip away from them. This was a must-win game for the Swiss side and they got off to a good start, as Damien Brunner opened the scoring, before Germany’s Thomas Oppenheimer tied the game a minute after.
The Swiss had a 2-goal lead in the second frame courtesy of Denis Hollenstein and Kevin Romy. Germany got one back as Thomas Oppenheimer scored his second goal of the game with less than a minute left in the second. Both teams were held off the score sheet in the final period and Switzerland got their first points of the tournament. Reto Berra faced 25 shots, stopping 23 for a .88 save percentage.

Slovakia was in a similar position as Switzerland, looking for their first win of the tournament against Norway. Trying to keep Slovakia winless was defenseman Jonas Holos along with his countrymen. Tomáš Tatar opened the scoring in the first period, but Norway answered right back. Juraj Mikúš score Slovakia’s second goal, but the Norwegians answered again. Ladislav Nagy gave the Slovaks their third lead of the game, to which they ultimately held on thanks to another goal by the aforementioned Nagy and a goal by Michel Miklík.
Jonas Holos was held without a point and only and had a plus-minus of -1, while playing a total of 31 minutes and 15 seconds, being Norway’s leader in ice-time by more than 10 minutes.
