Landeskog helps Avs to defeat StarsThe official game recap Colorado Avalanche vs Dallas Stars.

Gabriel Landeskog had two goals and two assists, and the Colorado Avalanche rallied for five consecutive goals Saturday to defeat the Dallas Stars 6-3 at Pepsi Center.

The Avalanche's first win of the season came two nights after they allowed four third-period goals in a 5-4 loss to the Minnesota Wild.

The game was tied 3-3 in the third period when John Mitchell and Landeskog scored 58 seconds apart to give the Avalanche a 5-3 lead.

All three members of the fourth line contributed to the goal that put the Avalanche in front for the first time in the game. Jack Skille carried the puck into the Stars' zone, Cody McLeod kept the puck alive behind the net and Skille passed to Mitchell, whose shot from the slot sailed past goalie Antti Niemi's glove at 8:11 for a 4-3 lead.

Landeskog made it 5-3 at 8:58 with a shot from the left point that beat Niemi to the short side. Defenseman Francois Beauchemin picked up his second assist of the game and fifth of the season on the play.

Landeskog closed out the scoring at 17:34.

The Avalanche tied the game 3-3 on power-play goals by Erik Johnson and Jarome Iginla 2:58 apart late in the second period.

Johnson beat Niemi to the stick side at 14:53 with a shot from inside the blue line after accepting a pass from Carl Soderberg after Niemi was called for delay of game for clearing the puck over the glass. Iginla tied the game at 17:51 after the Stars were penalized for having too many men on the ice. Landeskog slipped the puck to Iginla in front, and he whipped a shot past Niemi.

The Avalanche have four goals on six power-play chances in their first two games. They were 29th in the NHL on the power play last season.

The Stars grabbed a 3-1 lead on Cody Eakin's second goal of the game at 8:50 of the second period. It came with 19 seconds left on a power play. Jason Demers passed to Eakin in the slot for a quick shot past goalie Semyon Varlamov (30 saves).

The Stars scored 20 seconds into the game and took a 2-1 lead in the first period on goals by rookie Mattias Janmark and Eakin.

Janmark, 22, took a pass from Demers, skated down the slot and put a backhander behind Varlamov on the first shot of the game.

Janmark made his NHL debut Thursday and scored on his first shot 1:39 into the first period in the Stars' 3-0 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Avalanche tied the game on a goal by Nathan MacKinnon at 9:06 after Dallas' Jamie Benn upended Landeskog just inside the blue line. Alex Tanguay gained possession and passed to MacKinnon, who skated in on Niemi and chipped the puck over his right pad.

The Stars answered with Eakin's first goal at 10:21. Varlamov made a pad save on a shot by Tyler Seguin, but Eakin corralled the rebound and lifted the puck inside the right post.
