Matt Duchene out for 4 weeks

Matt Duchene out for 4 weeksMatt Duchene will be out about four weeks with a left knee injury.

As the Colorado Avalanche practice began Monday morning at Family Sports, the team announced that center Matt Duchene will be out about four weeks with a left knee injury suffered Saturday afternoon against the San Jose Sharks.

That timeframe would mean Duchene almost certainly would be unavailable for the first round of the playoffs, but possibly could return for the second round, if the Avalanche manages to advance. Colorado almost certainly will play the Chicago Blackhawks in the opening round.

The better news for Colorado was that winger P.A. Parenteau, out for the past three weeks with a sprained medial collateral ligament, again skated on his own for about 15 minutes. He's expected to return by the end of the regular season.
