Avs on WC (8): Varly´s first lost

The 8th day of this year´s IIHF World Championship is behind us and couple of Avs players were in action again. So let´s do a small recap.
In
today´s first game, Tomas Pock spent over 21 minutes on ice and managed
5 shots on Slovakian goalie. Austria then made yet another
surprising result of this tournament and won the game against Slovakia after
penalty shootouts, when the deciding shootout was scored by Tomas Vanek.
This game must have been really special for him, as his mother is originally
from Slovakia.

Czechs needed a 3point win against Slovenia badly, but their performance was again horrible. Only thanks to perfect saves done by Ondrej Pavelec they kept this hope alive. Jan Hejda could not be missed for this game of course and managed to add one plus point in +/- column and Czechs won 4-2.

Another Avs footstep could be found in game Russia – Finland as today, Varly was at the goal. He had 21 successful saves but let 3 goals in his net and Finland won in very exciting game 3-2.

Also
in the last game of the day, we can find players from Denver. Matt Duchene and
Ryan O´Reilly helped team Canada win
the match against Belarus 4-1.
Duchene managed 6 shots on goal, but didn’t score. O´Reilly had only two shots
on goal, but one of them was a fantastic shot which meant Canada´s lead 1-0.
