Avs on WC (8): Varly´s first lost

Avs on WC (8): Varly´s first lostAlong with the daily results, we also focus on Avs players at WC.

The 8th day of this year´s IIHF World Championship is behind us and couple of Avs players were in action again. So let´s do a small recap.

In today´s first game, Tomas Pock spent over 21 minutes on ice and managed 5 shots on Slovakian goalie. Austria then made yet another surprising result of this tournament and won the game against Slovakia after penalty shootouts, when the deciding shootout was scored by Tomas Vanek. This game must have been really special for him, as his mother is originally from Slovakia.

Czechs needed a 3point win against Slovenia badly, but their performance was again horrible. Only thanks to perfect saves done by Ondrej Pavelec they kept this hope alive. Jan Hejda could not be missed for this game of course and managed to add one plus point in +/- column and Czechs won 4-2.
