Bob may be backup vs Avalanche

Bob may be backup vs AvalancheThe official game preview Colorado Avalanche vs Columbus Blue Jackets.

Season series: Forward Boone Jenner scored two goals in the Columbus Blue Jackets' 4-3 win against the Colorado Avalanche on Oct. 24. The win was the Blue Jackets' first of the season after losing the first eight. Columbus defenseman Ryan Murray had a goal and an assist.

Avalanche team scope (22-20-3): Colorado did not practice Friday after a 3-0 win against the New Jersey Devils on Thursday. The win snapped a two-game losing streak. "We needed a good game, and that's what we got. Our guys were sharp," coach Patrcik Roy told the Avalanche website. Goaltender Calvin Pickard got his first shutout in his 22nd NHL game. The Avalanche are starting a two-game road trip after playing seven of their past eight at home.

Blue Jackets scope (16-25-4): Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky could be the backup after Columbus activated him from injured reserve and reassigned goalie Anton Forsberg to the American Hockey League; Bobrovsky hasn't played since Dec. 8, when he sustained a groin injury. "We're going to talk to the trainers and to [Bobrovsky] to see where we're at there, but that's another step in his process of trying to get back," coach John Tortorella told the Blue Jackets website. Forward Markus Hannikainen also was activated from injured reserve; he missed 20 games after sustaining a shoulder injury. Tortorella said defenseman David Savard will be out longer than day-to-day with an upper-body injury.
