Avs claim Bodnarchuk from Columbus

The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team has claimed defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk on waivers from the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Bodnarchuk, 27, has appeared in 16 games for the Blue Jackets this season, recording two points (0g/2a). He has also skated in 14 games for Columbus’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Lake Erie Monsters, picking up eight points (2g/6a).
Selected by Boston in the fifth round (128th overall) of the 2006 Entry Draft, Bodnarchuk has appeared in 21 career NHL games, notching two points (0g/2a). He skated in five games for the Bruins in 2009-10. Prior to turning pro, the Drumheller, Alberta, native played for the Halifax Mooseheads of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
