Avs acquire Briere from MontrealThe Colorado Avalanche announced today that the club has acquired forward Daniel Briere in exchange for forward P.A. Parenteau and a 5th round pick in 2015.

Daniel Briere, 36, a first-round draft pick (24th overall) of the Phoenix Coyotes in 1996, signed with Montreal as a free agent in July 2013. He finished this past regular season with 25 points (13g/12a) and had a +1 plus/minus rating in 69 games. He added seven more points (3g/4a) in 16 playoff games, helping the Canadiens to the Eastern Conference Final.

“Daniel is a veteran who brings experience to our hockey club. We’re looking forward to him joining our team,” said Avalanche Executive Vice President Joe Sakic

Briere has played 916 career regular-season games in stints with Philadelphia, Buffalo, Phoenix and Montreal. He has 684 points (299 goals/385 assists) in the regular season, and 116 points (53 goals/63 assists) in 124 playoffs games.
