Reto Berra named Player of the Game

Reto Berra named Player of the GameEurolanche brings you the daily recap of everything important that happened at World Championships in Belarus involving Avalanche players.

On the second day of the World Championship in Minsk, Belarus, the Colorado Avalanche organization had all four players in action. Nathan MacKinnon and Team Canada played against Slovakia, Reto Berra was in net for Switzerland against USA, Markus Lauridsen (Denmark) played against Sweden and Jonas Holos (Norway) faced Team Italy.

In the first game of the day, Norway played against Italy. The game was close, but Norway with Holos beat the “squadra azzura” 3:0 after scoring goals in every period.  Jonas Holos recorded 5 shots and had 2 penalty minutes. Spent 29 minutes and 32 seconds on ice, what was the most among the team.

Italy – Norway 0:3 (0:1, 0:1, 0:1)

Lake Erie Monsters defenseman Markus Lauridsen appeared in the next game. The first goal of the game was scored after his mistake, when the puck went from his skate into the Danish net. Denmark 0:3. Lauridsen spent on ice 18 minutes and 33 seconds and had a -1 point.

Sweden – Denmark 3:0 (1:0, 1:0, 1:0)

All eyes of Avs fans were on Nathan MacKinnon and Team Canada playing against Slovakia. The youngster MacKinonn was visible on the ice throughout the whole game and team Canada won the game 4:1. “Mack” had 15:05 total ice time, recorded only 1 shot on the goal and had no points.

Canada – Slovakia 4:1 (0:0, 0:1, 3:1)

The last Av in action was Reto Berra who was in the net for Team Switzerland against Team USA. The Swiss Team had a solid 2:1 lead, but lost 2:3. Berra made 35 saves and had a SVS% 0.921. Reto was also named the Player of the Game for Team Switzerland.

USA – Switzerland 3:2 (0:0, 1:2, 2:0)
