Welcome Tanguay and Sarich

Welcome Tanguay and SarichExciting times for Avs fans.

First off Welcome back Alex Tanguay!! I love this trade with a fiery passion. So many reason this is a good trade for the Avs. I don’t understand how I am already seeing some fans on twitter complaining. I guess sometimes people just need something to complain about that is fair. Everyone has a right to their opinion.

So let start is off on why this is a good deal for the Avs. First off the most important thing I find personally. It is the fact that is movement. No more just let things take the course. Wait it out and hope for the best. The team is now proactive and making moves to try and win. That is a huge plus sign no matter what players swap hands. Even if Jones turns it back on and starts scoring again. I am happy with the move to try and change the team.

David Jones is gone and he took Shane O’Brien with him. These guys will be missed by their teammates. I highly doubt they will be missed by any of the fans.  But none the less they did what they could when they played. O’Brien was very vocal on the team and his love for it. So thank you to both of these guys for their time and effort good luck on the Flames.

Back to the trade and why it is good for the Avalanche. Both players are veterans and bring Cup winning experience to the team. Everyone is well aware of what Tanguay can bring to the team. I think a line with him Matt Duchene and P.A. Parenteau could be dynamite. Anyone saying Tanguay is old and past his primes should look at his 27 point this year. It would put him third in scoring for the Avs after Duchene and Parenteau.

I like Cory Sarich coming with the package too. I know a lot of people are saying great another big slow defender who can’t score points. I am seeing a lot of oh no another Greg Zanon. He is not a Greg Zanon trust me. I accept that fact Sarich isn’t known for point totals. You know what Cory Sarich does bring is strong veteran leadership to the team. He is a playoff performer which is something the Avs will need when taking so many young guys into the playoffs. He has a cup ring something Zanon doesn’t have. Most of all he wants to be here. He waved his no movement clause to come to the Avs. This means he believes in the team and play hard every night for the team.

Cap wise the Avs win the trade again. I am seeing a lot of comments by Flames fans thinking they dump salary on this trade. Not aware of the fact Tanguay makes $500,000 less than Jones. With the same number of years left on his contract. O’Brien and Sarich make the same amount of money. Sarich only has one year left on his contract while O’Brien has two. So the Avs are not stuck with any long term investment if Sarich doesn’t work out. This was smart move for the future as well for the immediate.  A good day to be an Avs fan and the draft is just days away enjoy the times everyone!

PS Calgary Flames I now forgive you for the O’Reilly offer sheet.
