Future by Roy

Future by RoyIs Factor a factor for the future.

As an Avs fan you couldn’t have had a better day yesterday. The Roy press conference brought so much good news. The Avs will hire a full time goalie coach! The best thing I have heard in a long time Avs wise. All of Roy’s answers were great. How he wants to bring winning back to the Avs. My personal favorite has to be the Stanley Cup Attitude. Roy was honest it is highly unlikely the Avs will win the cup next year. But it doesn’t mean they shouldn’t play like they won’t a Stanley Cup attitude is what they must play with every game.

Another of my favorite parts was when he mentioned how Bourque came to the Avs. Bourque is one of my personal all-time favorite players before he even joined the Avs. When he came over to win a cup I was in heaven. Even more so when he finally did win the cup with the Avs! I loved his statement how he wants the team to be like that again. When a big name veteran is looking to win a cup in his last years he will come looking to the Avs.

How he compared it to the Pens and Iginla. This is where it got interesting for me. Now I was probably reading way too much into a simple comment. Heck I might have just been looking for some kind of controversy to expose just for a story. When Roy said he wanted it to be like look the Pens have Crosby Malkin I want players to be like the Avs have Duchene Statsny Landeskog. I found this very interesting in his name choice and lack of one.

No doubt Duchy and Landy are big names for the future of the Avs. The choice of Statsny was very interesting to me. A lot of people and fans think of him as going downhill and on his way out. This is where I was intrigue by the lack of mention of O’Reilly. He supposed to be a future star and huge part of the Avs team. Hell he is so awesome that the Flames offered him a big contract to try and get him. But yet Roy when speaking of the future left his name out. I found this very interesting.

O’Reilly is supposed to be this pure passion player for the game work hard player. Can see the game from any angle and is a leader on and off the ice. Kind of like how Roy is right? Yet somehow his name doesn’t come up when talking of the future stars and faces of the franchise. I know I am probably reaching a lot into nothing. O’Reilly can’t be traded until Feb 28th. So why his name might not be on Coach Roy’s radar right now. He could be come this Feb. I just thought it was interesting and wanted to see if anyone else noticed it too?
