The World Championship tournament will start next Friday in Sweden and Finland. Team USA announced that Paul Stastny and Matt Hunwick will represent their country at the tournament. For Hunwick it will be his premiere in this category; he played at the World Junior Championships in 2004 and 2005. Stastny represented the USA at two international tournaments in 2007 and 2012, and at one Winter Olympics. He scored 8 goals and added 12 assists in 21 games for the USA Team. Both players will be joined by the head coach Joe Sacco and assistant coach Tim Army.

The very first Avalanche player who has been nominated for the World Championship is Jan Hejda. Head coach of the Czech Republic national team confirmed yesterday that Hejda will join team for the tournament. „He is very good defenseman. He showed the interest to come as well,“ said Czech head coach for Czech Television. Hejda appeared at 5 tournaments and one Winter Olympics in the past, collecting 3 points in 46 games.

Milan Hejduk told to Eurolanche at the start of this season that his international career is over and he will not travel to Europe.

We expect to see more nominations of the Avalanche players by their national teams. Matt Duchene, Ryan O´Reilly, P.A. Parenteau, Gabriel Landeskog and Semyon Varlamov are top candidates.

We will keep you informed.
