Avs lose to Hawks in the last minute

The Avs look to break the Blackhawks streak tonight as both teams are on the back to back. Starting for the Avs tonight Forwards: Paul Stastny, Gabriel Landeskog, David Jones; Defense: Ryan O'Byrne, Matt Hunwick; Goalie; Semyon Varlamov. The Avs look to bounce back after a disappointing loss to the Wings.
The first half of the first is filled with some back and forth play. McLeod takes a penalty and the Hawks strike pay dirt on their PP. The hawks take a 1-0 lead that doesn’t last for too long. The Avs get one back not long after Mitchells 7 goal of the season. He is assisted by Kobasew and O’Reilly who gets his first point back. The first ends with the two teams tied at 1-1 apiece. The Hawks lead in shots 12-8.
Early in the Second the Hawks go on their second PP of the game. The Avs kill it off and then as the PP expire Kobasew gets a breakaway just out of the box. He is robbed by Emery but is showing some big jump tonight. The Hawks get another PP not to long after and kill it off. Varly making some huge saves all night team needs to reward him soon. That they do only minutes after the PK the Avs score to take a 2-1 lead. Duchene gets the goal and is assisted by Parenteau. It is great to finally see Duchene with the winger he deserves. The Avs get their first PP of the night but cannot capitalize on it. The second ends with the Avs up 2-1.
The third starts off with a jump Duchene gets a breakaway can’t score. The Avs get a PP off of it still. Too bad for the Avs though as they allow a shorthand goal to let the game be tied 2-2. The Avs cannot score on the PP the game remains tied. The play goes back and forth as both goalies are making big saves to keep the game tied. With just over a minute left in the game the hawks score to take the lead 3-2. The Hawks win again the Avs lose some big points tonight in the playoff hunt.
