The Avalanche continue the slump

The Avalanche continue the slumpThe Avs get skunked by the Canucks

The injury plague slumping Avalanche take on division rival the Canucks.  The Avs starters for the night Forwards Matt Duchene, Jamie McGinn, PA Parenteau; Defense: Tyson Barrie, Greg Zanon; Goalie: Semyon Varlamov. Colorado scratches: Matt Hunwick, Shane O'Brien and injured Gabriel Landeskog.

The Avs have some chances early but could not get anything in the canucks net. On the Canucks first shot of the game they score to get the 1-0 lead. It didn’t seem like Varly even saw the shot let loose by Garrison. Not to long after the Avs head to the box to go on the terrible PK as of late. Tyson Barrie serving the penalty for the Avalanche. The Avs successfully kill of their first PK. Late in the first Avs get their first PP. Avs end the first down 1-0 but entire the second with over a minute on the PP.

The Avs start the second on the PP. The Canucks successfully kill off the PK and leave the Avs still down by one. Later in the period the Avs go back on the PP again. The Avs had some great chances but couldn’t score. Soon the Avs are back on the PK this time the penalty is taken by big Bordy. Once again after some more scoring chances the puck goes back the other way and the Avs go down 2-0. Right after the goal the Avs do get a chance to get something back by going on their third PP of the night. The Avs then get a 5-3 big chance to get this game going. The Avs manage to get nothing on the PPs. The Avs  end the second period down 2-0 and playing with very little life.

The Avs go on the PK after a missed call on high stick on McLeod. Reffing has not been the Avalanches friend so far this season.  Duchene gets a shorthanded breakaway but cannot score. The Avs kill off the McLeod penalty. Not too long after they are back on the PK. The Cancucks captilize on the PK making it 3-0 late into the third. Late in the third the Avs go on the PK again. And the Avs lose shutout twice in the past 3 games.

Once again the Avs lose a game they never had a point in playing. It getting to that point again where fans start to vent and lose interest. Yes the Avs have injury problems right now. Yes no O’Rielly is hurting. The Refs have been unfair in some ways to the Avs you can’t discount that. But only so many excuses will keep the fans interested. I normally don’t support bashing of your own team. But at this point rants and rages will keep fans interested so let them come.
