David´s column on the last game

Horrible and terrible. First two periods were one of the worst in the Avalanche history, which I have ever seen. No one played well, or even average, with the exception of Varlamov. He is fantastic, but cannot do more. Avs will not have a better goalie than him. Edmonton scored all four goals on the PP, the fourth in the empty net. Avalanche´s PKs are one big disaster – the same with PPs. Losing Landeskog and Downie is going to have catastrophic impact on the team. Who would replace Landy? Nobody. The first line had just started to get chemistry, but then... sorry, but Stastny was awful and some Avs fans cannot wait until his contract is over. The third period was great mixture of effort and pressure by Avs. Can somebody explain to me why they played so well then? I have never understood it. How it is possible to change their game from minute to minute after two weak periods? And again, the refs were terrible for the full game. The highlight of their night was „clean“ hit from behind to Parentau by Smid.
