O´Reilly is ready in Russia for the KHL

While the lockout is killing not only the one season
in North America, but the whole organization of the NHL, Russians fans could be
a little happier. Ryan O´Reilly has
arrived to the city of Magnitogorsk and is ready to play in the KHL. “I just flew in from Toronto to London,
London to Moscow, Moscow to Chelyabinsk and now I’m here in Magnitogorsk,”
said to the official website of the team via camera recorderand added: “It’s been a long, long flight, but I’m
excited to be here, excited to be on the ice, play some real games.”
Can you feel the disappointment from his words? I do.
He wanted to play, but could not. I am not going to write we could blame
him as other members of the NHLPA and NHL management. But the fact is he could
not play, so he has found the right place. It is like with us, the fans. We
could also find some new league for the following...
The Russian media writes about O´Reilly like the former Colorado Avalanche
player. Yeah, former, he is not a member of the organization and it really
does not mater, which kind of agent status he has. Some media reported that his
contract includes the opt or the clause which allows him to come back to Denver
anytime when the lockout is finished. It
is not true. According to the official KHL rules available on the internet, any
contract cannot include this kind of clause. We believe there is some
verbal agreement between both sides, but who knows what could happen? Even in
Russia. I am starting to be more pessimistic about his future in the Avs.
I guess somebody in the Pepsi Center is already angry.
O´Reilly will be available for his first KHL game on Wednesday. We will keep you informed as we do with other Avalanche players playing elsewhere during the lockout.
