Varlamov is injured, Stastny´s first loss

Semyon Varlamov has missed the fifth straight game. Again, he was not even on the roster of the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. Finally, we know, what is in the matter. The Lokomotiv organisation officialy confirmed Varlamov´s health problems. "Head coach at the press-conference said that Varlamov has some problems with health, so everyone hopes he'll be ok soon. He is training with the team," said our source exclusively for the Eurolanche. According to Adrian Dater, Varlamov has suffered knee injury. It happened in the game against CSKA Moscow, when Sergei Shirokov fell on his leg.
The newest information about Varlamov is absolutely different with Varlamov´s comments from the last week. Varlamov said to Eurolanche he is not injured and he is ok. He was smiling and looked good. It is understandable if the KHL policy prohibits players to talk about their health. My opinion is Varlamov has some minor problem and should be ok soon. But five missed games are five games... Maybe he does not want to take a risk and prefer the full rehabilitation. He is not under pressure like in the NHL, he could afford to rest little more.

Lokomotiv lost first three games without Varlamov, but then could won two games in a row. The latest win came at the home ice against Neftekhimik 3:1. You can read exclusive interview with Varlamov about his health and lockout here.
Paul Stastny´s team of the German elite league, the Munich, has lost a game for the first time after 5-game winning streak. It was also the first loss for Paul, who has appeared in six games totally and scored two goals and added four assists. Stastny remained pointless on Sunday and received six penalty minutes. Munich lost to Krefeld 1:4.
