Varlamov shined, Stastny scoredSunday was a big day for two of three Avalanche players, who were in the action in Europe.

Semyon Varlamov is the hero in the KHL – the current best ice hockey league in the world. His team Lokomotiv Yaroslavl won again with him in the net. Varlamov saved 31 of 33 shots of the strong team CSKA Moscow. Varlamov´s teammates were shooting only for 22 times, but could score one more goal than the CSKA and won 3:2.

Lokomotiv won last 8 straight games; Varlamov appeared in 4 of them. The Avalanche goaltender played in 11 games, won 9 of them. His save percentage is 94.7 % and GAA 1.77. Lokomotiv Yaroslavl is on the second place in the KHL overall with 55 points after 26 games. The first team Dynamo Moscow has the same number of points, but one more win in the regulation. 


Paul Stastny played his second game in the elite German hockey league and finally got his first point. Stastny opened the score of the game. The EHC Red Bull Munchen (Munich) beat Augsburgu 5:0. Stastny´s goal was also the game winning goal for him. It was his second game in Germany in front of almost 4 500 fans.

The third and final Avalanche player who was in the action on Sunday was Gabriel Landeskog, playing for the Djurgarden in the 2-tier Swedish league. Djurgarden finally won after three game losing streak when defeat Leksands 6:2. In spite of high scoring, Landeskog did not gain a point. He has 9 points after 12 played games so far.
