Duchene and Varlamov shined on Saturday

Matt
Duchene assisted on two goals and Semyon
Varlamov saved 40 shots in their respective winning games. Duchene played
his very first game in Sweden. He wore a Frolunda team jersey and contributed
to the win 4:3 over the MoDo. At the other side, a former Avalanche defenseman Kyle Cumiskey got the same number of points
for the losing team. Duchene assisted on the 2nd and the 4th,
game winning, goal. Frolunda took a lead 2:0, then were losing 2:3, but finally
could win a game.

Varlamov also had a great game and showed a perfect
performance. The Russian goalie faced 42 shots and allowed only two of them to
get in the net. His team, Lokomotov Jaroslavl, was losing 2:0. Fortunately,
they tied the game in the third period. The score did not change after overtime.
Varly also was confident in the shootout and did not allow any goals. Lokomotiv
beat Metallurg Magnitogorsk 3:2 after the shootout. Even the presence of Evgeni Malkin on the losing team did
not help them.
Varlamov has played three games in the KHL, and has won
two of them. His save percentage is 91.9 % and GAA 2.35. He has allowed seven goals
total.
